Blood Problems
Issues regarding ailments of the blood
The issues around blood and its problems in the body reflect within each of us several possibilities: it may represent the inability/conflict to give or receive, or reflects issues to do with emotional involvement and/or the expression of love. Is there another story to this?
The blood flows throughout the body and reaches each and every cell; it goes through an intricate maze of arteries, veins and capillaries. The blood consists of plasma, red and white blood cells and platelets and it has a complete impression of our physical individuality contained in the DNA – our generic code of who we are at this point in time. In the womb we are connected to out mother through the blood system and from that, we shared blood and genetic inheritance to our entire genetic history all the way back to our ancient past. Difficulties to do with the blood are therefore often connected with family conflicts.
Just as the blood contains an imprint of our physical individuality, so it also contains the deep feelings that form our emotional identity and it is responsible for distributing those feelings throughout our being. There is normally an equal flow of give and take as the arteries carry the blood from the heart outwards (sharing the feelings in our heart with the rest of our world) and the veins bring it back to the heart (bringing the feelings we receive from others). When there is an imbalance, then it is an indication that there is some kind of conflict that needs to be resolved. In the case of cholesterol, the blockage normally occurs in the arteries as it flows from the heart indicating less blood flow, which implies an internal holding back in some way.
Arteriosclerosis is a hardening and narrowing of the arteries, more common as we grow older. Atherosclerosis is an accumulation of plaque or fatty deposits in the arteries, leading to constriction. A thickening of the walls means that less blood can pass through from the heart, which can in turn lead to a restriction in the blood supply back to the heart or may even contribute to having a heart attack. Your arteries clogging up represents how you are clogging up in your expression of your feelings or lack of expression!
The arteries and veins transmit life sustaining oxygen and essential nutrients, as well as communicating our feelings and emotions. The blood contains our unique individuality, the fullness of who we are at that point in time, while the vascular system provides the walls within which we are contained. But these walls can also be the limitations or restrictions we impose on ourselves in our communication with the rest of the world. So it appears that having problems seem to indicate some or all of the following:
A lack of love in our lives, perhaps from childhood, means we grow up with a hardened attitude, especially towards feelings. This can perhaps be best indicated through the following questions:
Anaemia
This is due to a lack of haemoglobin in the blood and an iron deficient anaemia may be due to poor diet, blood loss in menstruation and/or supply not meeting the body’s needs or demands for iron during pregnancy. Pernicious anaemia is due to a lack of vitamin B12 (folic acid) caused by a dietary deficiency or by a lack of the substance needed in the stomach to absorb B12. In both instances it is important to look at lifestyle, attitude and belief systems. Lifestyle habits may include an insufficient diet and where we are not recognizing our real needs. Have you been working to hard and not caring for yourself? Do you think your diet is unimportant? Does your diet include a lot of under-nourishing fast foods?
As the blood corresponds to sharing our love with the world and receiving love for ourselves, anaemia indicates a weakening of the force that enables us to respond energetically to life.
Blood pressure
Our blood corresponds to the life energy within us, the movement of love and vitality throughout our being. Blood pressure can be raised by exertion, shock, conflict or passion. It may also be connected to unexpressed anger or put differently, repressed anger within us. High blood pressure is usually due to increased pressure and stress or anger and similar hot emotions. If it does not normalize over time, then it is known as hypertension. This is the leading cause of heart attacks and strokes, affecting up to 25% of the population worldwide.
Those who have high blood pressure are often overactive, as if doing everything possible to avoid themselves. Activity is a way of avoiding aggressive or emotional impulses. High blood pressure is symbolically connected to feelings not being expressed or even acknowledged, creating a build up of inner pressure. As the emotion begins to spill over, physical difficulties begin to develop. It is essential that we learn to read the signs before damage is done and to connect deeply with what is seething just below the surface. These are hot emotions and if ignored for too long, may cause a great deal of damage.
When high blood pressure is due to panic or fear, we need to recognise the insubstantiality of external events and reconnect with our inner balance. Breath awareness and inner conscious relaxation are essential.
Low blood pressure implies a resistance to entering into life fully and fearlessly. There is an inner weakness and a desire to pull back. We are unable to stand our ground or stand up, without feeling dizzy or overwhelmed. This indicates a powerless or hopeless response to pressure, an inability to meet life face to face, a giving up attitude.
Low blood pressure also occurs in those who meditate a great deal, but here it is due to a deep level of serenity and calm - where all inner tension is released. Rather than being overwhelmed by life, there is a total lack of resistance, a merging of oneself with all of life.
Circulation
Poor circulation, which in its worst form is known as Raynuad’s disease, usually affects the extremities: feet, hands, ears and nose. The parts affected become pallid and/or purple and invariably numb and cold. It also causes chilblains, which are swollen, red, itchy and hot areas on the toes, fingers and nose.
A lack of circulation indicates that the blood is not going far enough to reach the extremities, as if there is not enough blood to satisfy demand, or is it withdrawing into oneself. As the blood represents the circulation of feeling, of love and life, poor circulation represents a weakening of that force. It is associated to being unable, fearful or unwilling to reach out to touch or be intimate, a fear of contact or being grasped by someone or something. It can show a depletion of inner reserves or a desire to pull away and redirect our emotional involvement. There is a fear of being vulnerable or exposed, so we act like snails, pulling our outer extremities inwards.
Haemorrhage
This is an acute loss of blood, whether external or internal. It is like an outpouring of emotion, a release of deeply held feelings that we may not have been conscious of or have been unable to express. But they are so powerful that they have to find an outlet. The bleeding is like a pressure valve blowing.
Thrombosis
This is a blood clot, which blocks a vein and may move to the lungs or heart. The fluidity and vitality of the blood has become congealed and stuck, causing a lack of movement and a potential disaster. Movement means change, whereas being solidified implies resistance to change, an inability to flow or concede. As blood carries life and love giving energy, a thrombosis implies a blocking of that energy.
A thrombosis is much more common in the veins than in the arteries, indicating that it is in the receiving rather than the giving, that we are most stuck.
It is most common in the legs, implying that it may be a fear of the direction or movement that lies ahead. Are you fearful of an impending change? (This could be both an emotional or physical change.)
Do you feel stuck to the ground you are standing on - as if embedded in concrete?
What do you need to do to release the blockage and to begin moving again?
I have not touched on heart attacks, heart rhythm and/or angina in this article, as I feel that they have a different focus to that above, even though they do form part of the blood flow in our bodies. More of that can be discussed in session.
The above indicates what our bodies are reflecting to us, from our emotional world. We need to embrace our inner emotional world and be prepared to treat it in the same way we would treat a broken leg for example. The range of activities that we will be prepared to go to in order to accommodate a broken leg must be the same, if not more, than what we should do with and for our feelings. When we keep a constant vigil on our feelings and sort out our issues, we benefit our health, happiness, fun, joy, vitality, liveliness, spontaneity, laughter, etc. These positive feelings will always be your friends and companion. Life then takes on purpose and joy that brings a sense of fulfilment, wonderment and contentment and it is fulfilling a part of your life purpose here on earth.
Positive thinking on it’s own will not solve all your problems, however it is one of a series of things that you have the power to implement and that will get you on the path to leading the life you want!
Cholesterol
There are two components to cholesterol the first being our diet and eating lifestyle and the second being where you are emotionally blocked or held back and how this is contributing to you having cholesterol.
The diet component can be assisted through a dietician. This does contribute greatly in resolving matters. However, if there are underlying emotional issues, then diet alone will not solve the problem.
There is a well known principle in Homeopathic circles that if you don’t address the underlying issues, then all healing is temporary in nature and the original problem comes back either in the same form, or in an aggravated disease form.
Do you recognise any of the potential issues on the list below, or does it touch you in any way:
If you acknowledge any two or more of the above emotional issues and have been experiencing high medical blood cholesterol readings for some time and nothing really helps, it may then be time for you to consider a different approach to healing the cholesterol, such as counselling and by addressing all the underlying issues.
Furthering the Healing Process
Counselling is essential in the healing process as it helps to put into perspective that which is out of balance; the area where we have difficulty in receiving or giving; our emotional involvement or our expression of our love; or all or some of the aforementioned.
There is normally a block or a negative event that occurred somewhere in life that must be revisited and a different perspective gained in some way. Once this has been completed, then energetic healing can be performed where in the case of cholesterol levels, they usually decline rapidly and normalise to proper levels.
Please note that all of the above does not necessarily fit 100% to each and every blood problem sufferer, however, there are large parts of the above that fit most sufferers. It is up to you to find those and work with it and by doing this you will find your own healing.

So it appears that having problems seem to indicate some or all of the following:
- Are you holding back from sharing and receiving?
- Are you limiting your emotional involvement or interaction?
- Are your arteries and/or veins blocked, indicating an imbalance in giving and receiving?
- Have you become to narrow in your outlook?
- Are you unable to accept another's point of view? (Could it be because you are trying to do too much and not recognising your own needs, not seeing where you are not giving to your self)
- Do you deny yourself love
- Do you pretend you can manage on your own and that you do not need any help?
A lack of love in our lives, perhaps from childhood, means we grow up with a hardened attitude, especially towards feelings. This can perhaps be best indicated through the following questions:
- Are you overly critical?
- Are you very rigid or fixed in your attitudes?
- Are you inflexible in your feelings?
- What will happen if you soften your attitude and become more willing to love and to receive?
- Fatty deposits in the vascular system imply that negative feelings, such as guilt or shame, is slowly building up and clogging the system. Do you let your feelings build up inside before they finally burst out?
- Do you feel clogged or stuck?
- What would happen if you share your feelings?
- What can you do to increase the flow of energy in your life?
- How can you release the restrictions you placed on yourself?

- Have you lost the desire to be involved or put differently, the desire to be here?
- Do you feel that you are not worthy of being loved?
- Is there a fear of opening yourself up to love?
- Do you feel overwhelmed or exhausted by emotional demands?
- A lack of iron suggests a lack of strength and resilience. Have you lost your motivation and sense of purpose?
- What is needed to rebuild your strength?

- Do you feel that you have nothing to give, no love to share?
- Do parts of you that feel threatened, shy, ugly or unlovable?
- Do you want to withdraw from a situation or a relationship where you no longer feel emotionally involved?
- Do you feel cold or numb to a relationship or do you feel very nervous about a relationship?
