Healing Menopause Ailments

God in his wisdom, decided to subject women to various cycles throughout their life in order to make it more interesting and special. The monthly cycles started within her body of their own accord, exposing her suddenly to womanhood from being a little girl and childhood. This occurred without her input, invitation or preparation. It just suddenly happened and it was imposed on her. She had to deal with it.

Within this she had to find out who she is, and what does it mean, and how do we direct and use it. Who is she as a sexual being, and what does that mean HealingMenopause2in all its facets. What are the implications of this? How will it touch me at the very core of my being? This alone having a profound impact on her life and the way she sees herself.

Then there are the cycles of pregnancy and motherhood, each having there own impact on her life, each within the control of mother nature as far as carrying the baby, birthing and feeding it, caring, loving and supporting it, is concerned. This all started from the original menstruation

Then suddenly this whole process starts to change again without her input, invitation or preparation and they enter into menopause. All sorts of bodily changes start to change again and they are thrown into the learning pit all over again – only this time for the first time, to really find out who this woman is, what her power and wisdom are, what it means to be in the fullness, with her power and the wisdom gained. This is one journey she has to go through herself – no one can do it for her, it is her own to experience. Yes she can have help and guidance and love and care and nurturance, but it is her own journey – it is just that!

As strange as it may be and may sound this is the time to give “men a pause” (men-o-pause). In other words it is a time for a woman to finally tune into and find herself. This “change of life” occurs when her relationship to herself and to being a woman moves into a different phase.

For a short period she will still be involved with having the occasional monthly periods and fertility is now diminishing to the horizon.  Then it changes, and they are no longer involved with fertility or having monthly periods.  The time has come to discover who she really is as a person. She has played the role of mother and wife for so long and got so involved in it, and it became her whole life – this is what she saw is life to be all about. She had to give, support, nurture, care, love, encourage etc. and so the list does go on and on. All the time during this period of her life, she was mostly involved with others and their needs and now she is free to find her own true identity, to find herself, to find out exactly who she is and what she wants from life.

HealingMenopause4Up to now the mother and wife has been so busy that the prospect of something for her self can be a very threatening situation and it appears so suddenly! What often happens is that one of the main fears      that arise is that her time clock for being a mother has passed and that she will no longer appear sexually desirable to her partner / a potential partner, or that her body will become over weight and lose its attractiveness, or that she will lose her sex drive.

For many women, being a mother is the central reason for her existence. Without that role what can a woman do? What is her purpose? Who is she?

There may also be a great fear of aging, of uncontrollable change taking place. That change seems to be directing and pushing her in a particular direction, somewhere that she doesn’t know.  What is this new territory all about, how does it work, what is she supposed to do, who is she, she has not been prepared for this, and lastly who asked her if she wanted it anyway – it was just imposed on her yet again in life.

Few women enter this time without trepidation and / or concern. Some may even become depressed and angry. Others may reject themselves as no longer being worthy. The physical manifestations suddenly start to happen – the blood stops flowing. For all of their lives, up to this point, the blood represented the very essence of who they are - it was their love and feelings made visible, it represented their very essence as a woman, and their part in society and in their relationship – it governed so much of their lives. Now that it has stopped, it indicates that they may stop loving themselves, as if their feelings start drying up inside of themselves.

The symptoms of menopause are generally related to these issues. Hot flushes indicate the fire within, which could be anger or fear, the heat of insecurity or resentment. The body is burning the past – and this is important to understand – releasing all the old ways of being of the past. This is natures way of purging the past – getting rid of – saying you have come to do what you wanted to do and experience. Now it is time for you – to find you, to find the essence of you and your further purpose. Sweating is the release of the emotional energy related to this purging of the past. It is an out pouring of emotion, washing away who we have been and preparing for the new. The journey through menopause can be one of joy or fear, but go through it you will as it is part of nature’s path for you.  The sooner you find the gift of the new you, the more wondrous and better the gift of menopause will be for you.

Vaginal dryness is linked to the fear of becoming sexually unattractive or incapable, making our sexual feelings contract. We withdraw to the inside. We also worry about the effect that the dryness may have on our partner and what the subtle signals are that our partner may be reading into this – this is happening to us without our control or input, and what may be the implications of this be on the relationship.

HealingMenopause6This should be an exciting time in your life, and it should be approached with joy, and understanding of what the bigger picture is all about and what it means for you personally. It is essential to put extra energy into loving and caring for yourself. This is an important time for making friends that would compliment who you are, to create anew, to discover a new direction and to do new things.

Rather than being an end to something, let this be a beginning, an opening into the fullness of who you are and into the power and wisdom of who you are!

It is time to discover the tremendous freedom after menopause, a time for the new woman to emerge – the wild woman, the wise woman, the free woman!  This is the woman who has now a lot to offer society, a lot to offer younger woman, who are just starting their path, to be the elder. Why, because, there is nothing like having walked the journey, to have experienced it, to have gone through the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations, the joys and the sorrows, the highs and the lows – this is what qualifies you as an elder in society. Society needs you, it wants you, you are important, please be there for them!!!

Fibroids

Fibroids in the uterus and cervix tend to show that mental patterns accumulated over along time are beginning to solidify. These often concern issues of guilt or shame, conflict or hurt, connected with childbirth, mothering or our own childhood. As this is the area we nurture new life, there may be conflicts about nurturing – perhaps giving to others while being or feeling unnourished ourselves. Now would be the ideal time to ask some pertinent questions here, namely;

  • Are you being nurtured/
  • Do you need caring?

The womb is symbolic of where new aspects of our being can be developed and new ideas created, so difficulties here may imply a fear of change and newness, or a desire to keep everything the same by blocking our creative forces, Are you doing any of this?

Thrush

Candida is a yeast-like organism which infects warm damp areas, such as the mouth and the intestines. In the vagina it is known as thrush. It is normally kept in check by the acid/alkaline balance within the vagina, but the balance is upset – whether through psycho / emotional causes or because of antibiotics killing the natural flora – then the yeast flourishes, causing a heavy, white, foul-smelling discharge with irritated membranes.

The discharge is indicative of feelings being discharged, particularly ones that are not considered acceptable. An infection implies that something is affecting us in an irritating and angry way, and it is proliferating inside of us. So again some pertinent questions here, namely;

  • Is intimacy giving rise to conflict in some way?
  • Are you being intimate with the right person?
  • Do you feel sexually abused, used or exploited?
  • What has happened to upset the balance within you?
  • Are there hidden feelings of guilt or shame, or repressed sexual longing?
  • Is something affecting you so deeply and intimately that it is breaking through all you defences?
  • If thrush re-occurs then we need to see what issues are not being dealt with, but simply being repressed each time they arise. It can help to keep a diary of the psycho/emotional events, noting also diet as well, and correlate these with any out breaks.

A renowned remedy used by many with good results is to use live natural yogurt in the vagina.

Sexual problems

HealingMenopause8These need to be dealt with, with a good insightful therapist who understands what the issues are and what is going on at this time in a woman’s life, namely menopause.

Dietary issues

This is also a time that a woman should look at her diet and look for the right foods that would support her physically as well.
